The Provincial Local Government Unit of Isabela is starting to construct the first Swine Artificial Insemination sa Barangay (SWAIB) in the region at the Cabagan Breeding Station in Cabagan, Isabela.
The ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the SWAIB Project was conducted earlier today and led by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Adrian Philip S. Baysac, ATI-RTC 02 Center Director Imelda M. Guillermo, DA-RFO 02 Livestock Program Focal Dr. Bryan Sibayan, and Isabela Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Belina Barboza, and ATI-RTC 2 livestock program focal Dr. Maurieann M. Turingan.
The facility will be equipped with AI laboratory equipment, tools, boars and bio-secured housing. It is expected to produce good quality genetically-superior processed semen.
The SWAIB project is part of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program of the Department of Agriculture - National Livestock Program (NLP) that aims to hasten the rehabilitation and recovery of swine industry. It is being implemented by the Agricultural Training Institute and DA Regional Field Offices.
The ground breaking ceremony was witnessed by municipal agriculturists and veterinarians, and other stakeholders from different municipalities of Isabela.
