Twenty-two (22) livestock raisers from various municipalities in Zambales successfully completed the three-day Training on Cattle Fattening conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute–Central Luzon (ATI-CL) from May 27 to 29, 2026, at Teves Integrated Farm and Training Center, Inc. in Iba, Zambales.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in cattle fattening as a profitable enterprise and a vital component of sustainable livestock production. Over the course of three days, they were introduced to key principles and practices, including breed selection, housing and facilities, feeding and nutrition management, forage production, animal health management, record keeping, and enterprise profitability.
To enrich their learning experience, participants also conducted farm visits and observation activities in Botolan and San Felipe, Zambales. These field activities allowed them to observe actual cattle production practices and management systems, linking classroom discussions to real-life farm operations.
During the closing program, Cristina Asiatico of CBFM-ASUFAI expressed her appreciation and shared her key learnings. “Sumali ako sa training na ito para matuto ng mga makabagong kaalaman na maaari kong ibahagi sa ibang kapwa magsasaka. Isa sa pinakamahalagang natutunan ko ay ang tamang pagpapakain ng baka. Nalaman ko na hindi sapat na pakainin lang ang mga hayop; dapat siguraduhin na may sapat at maayos na pagkain para sa malusog na paglaki at tamang pagdagdag ng timbang. Isa pa, nakita ko rin ang kahalagahan ng pagtatala o record-keeping. Malaki man o maliit ang sakahan, napakahalaga ng maayos na record para masubaybayan ang produksyon at makagawa ng tamang desisyon. Nais kong ibahagi ang mga natutunan at karanasang ito sa kapwa magsasaka sa aming komunidad para sila rin ay makinabang sa kaalaman na aking nakuha mula sa pagsasanay na ito" she said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Edgar Teves, Farm Supervisor of Teves Integrated Farm and Training Center, Inc. acknowledged the participants for their active involvement and commitment throughout the training. He commended them for dedicating their time to learn despite their responsibilities at home and on their farms, and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their respective livestock enterprises.
Through initiatives like this, ATI Central Luzon continues to strengthen the capabilities of livestock raisers by providing relevant knowledge, practical skills, and innovative technologies that contribute to a more productive, profitable, and sustainable livestock industry.
