The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL), through the Rice Program,implemented a 5-day Training of Trainers on Systems of Rice Intensification (TOT on SRI) for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) of Region III held in Duran Farm Agribusiness and Training Center in Basuit, San Ildefonso, Bulacan, on May 6-10, 2024.
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of each AEW by incorporating the application of SRI and its principles to increase the productivity and profitability of rice production.
"Nagpapasalamat po ako at naging parte ako ng pagsasanay na ito at mas naging malawak ang kaalaman ko pagdating sa pagpapalay," said Mr. Alexander Chavez Jr., a training participant from Casiguran.
In addition, the participants had the opportunity to engage in field practicum on SRI, including making planting guides, transplanting, mechanical weeding, and seedling preparation.
The modules were successfully delivered through the collaboration of the following agencies: DA-RFO III, DA-RCPC, Central Luzon State University, Provincial Agriculture Office-Bulacan, Duran Farm, and ATI-RTC III.
"Nawa ang training na ito ay maging kapaki-pakinabang sa inyo at sa inyong mga kliyente na magsasaka," Ms. Mariel B. Baldoz of ATI-CL said during the delivery of her closing message.
A total of 30 AEWs participated in the training and were able to submit their re-entry plans outlining the activities to be implemented in their respective areas.
