The Agricultural Training Institute- Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a Training on Vegetable Processing with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in support of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program held at ATI-RTC III, Satellite Office, Brgy. Singalat, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on August 28-30, 2024.
This training, which is in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmer associations in vegetable processing.
During the program, Ms. Lily D. Dela Cruz, Agriculturist II, welcomed the participants while Mr. Maynard A. Cezar, EPAHP Regional Coordinator; Mr. Marco Bello C. Hernal, SLP Provincial Coordinator in Nueva Ecija; and Ms. Vannie V. Barcelo from the National Irrigators Association-ANE IMO, delivered a message of support to the participants.
Additionally, Ms. Guia Reyes, Alternate EPAHP Focal Person, provided an overview of the training.
Furthermore, resource speakers from Central Luzon State University (CLSU), including Ms. Geraldine G. Tayag, Ms. Jessica M. Rustia, Ms. Joann D. Dar, and Ms. Marah Kathleen F. Valimento, led practical demonstrations on processing various squash products like jam, fries, chips, noodles, powder, pickles, pastillas, vinegar, and catsup.
Moreover, the training featured lectures, workshops, hands-on activities, and group re-entry plans on the final day of training. Each participant received a starter kit to support their new vegetable processing ventures.
A total of 30 members from the Diaman Conversion Pantabangan Irrigators Association participated in the training.
