The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted the 2nd batch of Training on Native Cattle Production and Management under the Coconut Farmers Industry Development Program (CFIDP) held at Brgy. Dilaguidi, Dilasag, Aurora, from August 6-8, 2024.

The three-day training aimed to advance the integration of cattle into local coconut farms and makes a better use of resources, improve farmers' livelihoods, and strengthen both the Philippine Coconut and Native Cattle industries.

The training covered the topics including Coconut Industry Development Plan, current state of the Native Cattle Industry in the Philippines, and strategies for integrating livestock into coconut farming.

The participants also learned about management practices specific to both coconut and cattle, including the economic aspects of integrating these sectors.

Furthermore, practical sessions included hands-on training in silage making, cattle medication, and feeding techniques, which engaged directly with the material through interactive activities, enhancing their learning experience.

Mr. Marciano Buencamino Jr., a local farmer, shared his gratitude for the training.

The training experts including Mr. Marcos Y. Manahan and Mr. Eugenio N. Dayacus from the Philippine Coconut Authority-Aurora (PCA), Ms. Leonila S. Dizo from the Municipal Agriculture Office of Dilasag, and Mr. Omie A. Carbonel from ATI-RTC III, served as the resource persons and guides in the conduct of training.

Moreover, participants developed re-entry plans to implement the skills and knowledge gained, ensuring the practical application of their learning in their respective farming practices.

This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating livestock management with coconut farming, promoting sustainability and increased productivity in the region.
