The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a five-day Training on Basic Agricultural Extension Course under the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agricultural Program held at the ATI-CL, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija from March 10-14, 2025.

The activity consists of twenty-seven (27) participants including Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs), Farmer-Leaders, and Local Farmer Technicians in the region.

The training aimed to enhance the capacity of the participants to effectively deliver extension services, improve farm productivity, and address challenges in agriculture and fisheries. Also, strengthen relationships with farmers, and contribute to the development of the agricultural community.

Additionally, the course focused on improving critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, helping them to empower farmers and fishers in the region. It covers topics such as the Basics of Agricultural Extension; Agricultural Extension Approaches, Strategies, Methods, Extension Modalities, Interventions, and Innovations; Communication in Extension; Personal Awareness and Self-Mastery and Community Work.

Furthermore, Dr. Geena H. Pingul, Associate Professor V of Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) and Ms. Elsa F. Victoria, Training Specialist III of ATI-CL together with Ms. Babelyn P. Lopez, Training Specialist II; and Ms. Eula Dee A. Lañada, Information Officer II served as a resource person for the five-day training.

Moreover, the participants submitted their re-entry plan as part of their output on the said training.

This training is part of efforts to address challenges in rural and agricultural development and to promote sustainable farming and fishing practices in the region.
