The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL), in partnership with the Office of Senator Grace Poe (OSGP) and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in Tarlac, conducted the Municipal Training on Goat Production for Binhi ng Pag-asa Program beneficiaries Batch 2.
The activity was held at Farmer's Training Center, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), Camiling, Tarlac, from July 9-11, 2024.
The opening program featured Mr. Wrancudo P. Felix, Municipal Agriculture Officer of Camiling, Tarlac, who welcomed the participants. βKayo ang magiging binhi ng pag-asa, hindi lang sa bayan ng Camiling kundi sa ating bayan, Kung kayaβt namnamin ninyo ang mga matututunan ninyo dito sa training na ito," Mr. Felix remarked.
Dr. Joey A. Belarmino, ATI-CL Center Director, emphasized the participants' current leadership roles in his address, βYou are not future leaders, you are already leaders right now, dahil kayo ang napili sa pagsasanay na ito, huwag ninyong sayangin ang pagkakataong itoβ.
Hon. Erlon C. Agustin, Municipal Mayor, expressed his support for Camiling's youth during the event. Ms. Charlene Gonzales, PEO I/Project Officer, provided an overview of the training activities.
Furthermore, Mr. Aldrine F. Anzures and Mr. Mc John G. Juan served as the resource persons for the said training. They discussed the modules on National Situation, Leadership and Values Formation, Agricultural Advocacies, Agripreneurship, and The role of Social Media in Farming.
Dr. Allan Jeffrey E. Francia, Dr. Annalie B. Paragas, and Dr. Lavina Gracia M. Ramirez from the College of Veterinary Medicine of TAU led the sessions on Goat Production, covering topics such as Potentials of Goat Production, Production Management, Feeds and Feeding, Common Goat Diseases, and Goat Production Enterprises. Mr. John Arris E. Rayo from the College of Agriculture and Forestry discussed the Economics of Goat Production.
The training included hands-on activities such as UMMB Making, Silage Preparation, Age Identification through Dentition and Ear Tagging at TAU AI Laboratory and Goat Production area, guided by Dr. Francia, Dr. Paragas, and Dr. Ramirez.
Moreover, the participants crafted and submitted their re-entry plans as part of the training activity.
A total of twenty (20) participants from Camiling, who graduated from the municipal training - Batch 2, are expected to share their knowledge and hope with fellow youth, encouraging them to engage in agriculture and aspire to leadership roles.
The success of the training owed to the technical expertise contributed by the Office of Senator Grace Poe and Tarlac Agricultural University.
This initiative aims to continue spreading hope across Tarlac's municipalities until October this year.
