
The Agricultural Training Institute – Central Luzon (ATI-CL), in partnership with the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), conducted a Training on Leadership and Organizational Management in support to RiceBIS Community in Central Luzon – Batch 2 at Merryland Integrated Farm and Training Center Inc., Barangay Taal, Pulilan, Bulacan from April 2-4, 2025.
A total of thirty (30) farmer leaders from Castillejos Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (CFAC), Ugat-Uhay Agriculture Cooperative (UUAC), Pinagbuklod Na Adhika Multipurpose Cooperative (PNAMC), Batitang Agriculture Cooperative (BAC) and Cama Juan Multipurpose Cooperative participated in the training, which aimed to enhance their leadership capabilities, and equip them with essential management skills, and empower them to become proactive and effective leaders in their respective organizations and communities.
The program commenced with the acknowledgement of guests and participants, followed by welcome remarks from Mr. Jian Carlo SJ Castillo, owner of Merryland Integrated Farm and Training Center Inc., and messages of support from Mr. Policarpio T. Ignacio, Agriculture Consultant of LGU-Pulilan, Bulacan, and Ms. Rowena A. Pineda, RiceBIS Focal Person. Dr. Joey A. Belarmino, ATI-CL Center Director, also delivered an inspirational message to the attendees.

Ms. Giselle Ann G. Mangubat, Project Officer, provided an overview of the training and facilitated the levelling of expectations among the participants. Mr. Karlo F. Galang, General Manager of the Kitanglad Multi-Purpose Cooperative, served as the resource speaker, addressing key topics such as Leadership Skills, Cooperative Management and Governance, Conflict Management, and Strategic Planning.
During the closing ceremony, selected participants shared their positive experiences. Marites A. Benico of the Pinagbuklod Na Adhika Multipurpose Cooperative expressed her gratitude to the training,” Nagpapasalamat po kami sa ATI-CL, PhilRice dahil sobrang relate po kami sa ating Training on Leadership and Organizational Management dahil sapul na sapul po ang aming kooperatiba. Kaya umasa po kayo na ibabahagi po namin sa aming mga kasamahan ang mga natutunan po namin dito,” she quipped.
Moreover, the participants submitted re-entry plans that will demonstrate the learning they adopt and direct the application of their training to improve their cooperatives.
