The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III) and Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), implemented the 2-day activity on Training on Disease Surveillance and Specimen Blood Collection on Swine for Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) held at ATI-RTC III, Brgy. San Ramon, Dinalupihan, Bataan on March 21-22, 2024.
One of the speakers, Dr. Agnes Dela Cruz-Uera, Regional Livestock Coordinator of DA RFO III, explained the Animal Swine Fever (ASF) situation update in Central Luzon and presented the programs and interventions on the ASF.
Meanwhile, Dr. Agatha Pauline-Cleto De Leon, Veterinarian IV of PVO Bataan, discussed the topics on biosafety and biosecurity measures, and guidelines on swine biosecurity audit and disease surveillance.
In addition, hands-on activity on restraining of pig and sample blood collection was made possible through the shared resources of Dinalupihan Slaughterhouse and the technical guidance of Dr. Cleto-De Leon.
One of the participants, Ms. Editha Salazar, Veterinarian I in LGU-Talavera, said that the trainings of ATI are very informative and useful in their field of work. It helps in enhancing their knowledge and develop their capabilities to be a better AEWs and better serve the communities.
βNapakaganda po ng mga training na binibigay ng ATI, kasi po kaming mga AEWs ay na-capacitate at kinakailangan namin ang mga kaalaman na ibinahagi sa amin ng magagaling na speakers upang maibahagi naman ito saΒ mga clients na nangangailangan ng aming tulong lalo na po sa panahon ngayon na may ASF. Napaka-challenging yung ating situation kasi ang ASF ay patuloy na nandiyan lang, kaya ang pagsasanay na ito ay napakahalaga para lagi natin maalala na kailangan pala talaga natin ng isang maganda at maayos na biosecurity. Salamat sa mga tagapagturo, dahil napaka-comprehensive ng kanilang na impart samin na knowledge and skills. As part of the training, the participants prepared the re-entry plan per province, which will be monitored by the Center within six (6) months.
