The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a three-day "Training Program on Free-Range Chicken Production" held at St. Isidore The FARMER Resort Inc. in Sta. Ana, Pampanga from August 7-9, 2024.
This initiative aimed to enrich the knowledge and expertise of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) and farmers in diverse management practices related to free-range chicken production.
Mr. Romeo Cordova, Owner, St. Isidore The FARMER Resort Inc., welcomed all attendees. Ms. Guia Reyes, Alternate Livestock Focal Person, delivered the opening remarks, offering an overview of the training objectives and guiding the participants in setting their expectations.
Furthermore, Mr. Emmanuel S. Bundoc, owner of Felisidro Farm in Pulilan, Bulacan; Dr. Maria Fe S. Bulao, Associate Professor V at Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU); and Dr. Rowena G. Kassem, Supervising Agriculturist at Office of the Provincial Agriculturist-Pampanga served as resource persons.
Romick Mariano, DVM, Municipal Veterinarian, LGU Caranglan, Nueva Ecija said, “Sa loob po ng tatlong araw ay natitiyak ko po na nadagdagan po ang aming kaalaman at umunlad ang aming mga kasanayan at hindi lang po iyon dahil we just built our connections, and we just created our relations. Education is unstoppable, and education is a continuous learning process and ATI is known for its practical way of learning.”
This training featured comprehensive sessions including lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities.
Moreover, the culmination of the training involved practical demonstrations on feed formulation and the proper administration of vitamins for chickens. Also, the participants collaborated into groups to develop their respective re-entry plans.
A total of 26 attendees, comprising AEWs, members of Farmers’ Cooperatives Associations, and selected LSAs from Central Luzon, participated in the training.
