The Agricultural Training Institute- Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a five-day Training on Rice-Based Integrated Farming System among 32 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in Central Luzon held at ATI-RTC III, San Ramon, Dinalupihan, Bataan on July 22-26, 2024.
The training aimed to enhance their knowledge and skills in integrated rice-based farming system technologies in the respective areas of Central Luzon.
“Marami kaming natutunan kahit na hindi po ako Crop Science graduate ay unti-unti ko pong nauunawaan at naiintindihan ang kaalaman ng patungkol sa rice at unti-unti na ring makakatulong sa mga magsasaka. Na-appreciate ko po yung fertilizer computation at sa PNS ng GAP sa rice and vegetables na kumpara sa mga matatanda ay alam na nila, ngunit sa aming mga baguhan ay bagong kaalaman,” quipped Bea Katrina D. Yandoc, one of the participants.
Moreover, the training focused on the following topics including Introduction of Integrated Rice-based Farming System; Agro-ecology rice-based farms; Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); Systems of Rice Intensification (SRI); Heirloom Rice Production; Climate Smart Agriculture; and Information, Communication, & Technology (ICT) Tools in Agriculture.
The training employed lectures, discussions, and workshops as part of the activity. ATI staff and LSA Cooperators were tapped as the resource persons.
As part of the training, the participants completed their municipal re-entry plan.
