The Agricultural Training Institute- Central Luzon (ATI-CL) in collaboration with Central Luzon State University (CLSU) conducted a three-day Training Course on Soilless Farming held from July 16-18, 2024, at Science City of Muรฑoz, Nueva Ecija.
This training aimed to equip the participants with knowledge and skills in soilless farming technologies, enhancing their capacity to address the agricultural needs within their respective communities and effectively manage government-provided technologies
During the opening program, Dr. Eugenia G. Baltazar, Head of Applied Communication Division and Continuing Education Division of the University Extension Program Office of CLSU, warmly welcomed the participants from different Local Government Units (LGUs) across the Central Luzon.
Dr. Baltazar also emphasized the role of extension service providers in ensuring that farmers are able to use the existing technologies developed by research centers and SUCs like CLSU.
Dr. Carolyn Grace C. Somera and Dr. Claire Marie M. Castillo who are experts on the subject matter, served as a resource persons who discussed the different technologies in soilless farming.
Furthermore, after the discussion, the participants were able to take a tour in the CLSU Precision and Digital Agriculture Center (PREDICT) and KAMALIG which showcases the different agricultural technologies developed by the university.
On the last day of the training, the participants were able to experience hands-on activities in seed sowing, transplanting, and setting up hydroponics technology facilitated by Engr. Roan F. Beronilla of MIKAI Agri Enterprises in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.
The training has produced a total ofย 33 completers from the different LGUs in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales, who actively participated in sharing knowledge they have learned.
