The Agricultural Training Institute – Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a Refresher Course on Value Chain Approach on Corn Production and Management held at ATI-CL Satellite Office, Brgy. Singalat, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on April 16–19, 2024.
The training primarily aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of each Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) by assimilating a value chain approach and science-based knowledge to increase the sustainability, productivity, and profitability of corn production.
In addition, the participants were also able to experience farm-level activities such as four-wheel tractor operation, land preparation, and sowing of corn seeds.
Ms. Bea Katrina Yandoc, a participant, stated that “Malaking tulong po sa akin ang training na ito lalo na as an Animal Science major, lahat ng ‘to ay bago sa akin, pero siyempre hindi naman natin dapat sabihin na dahil major in AnSci tayo eh wala tayong idea rito, dapat meron.”
Furthermore, Ms. Biverly V. Calderon, Ms. Babelyn Lopez, Mr. Evergilio M. Aquino Jr, Ms. Marietta D. Agregado, Ms. Reinalyn C. Gulen, Mr. Arnel U. Abayan, Dr. Jayvee Bryan G. Carillo, and Mr. Mark Anthony L. Parducho served as the resource persons for the said training and shared knowledge and expertise on topic given throughout the refresher course.
A total of 31 participants from different provinces were able to complete the refresher course, and each province was able to submit a re-entry plan that they will implement in their respective areas.
