Selected farmers in Subic, Zambales joined the Seminar on Urban Food Production 10 on June 9, 2023 in the municipality.
The activity aimed to equip the participant with skills and knowledge in urban food production to be applied in their households.
According to Hector Fabiala, one of the participants, the training gave him an idea on how to save money in terms of fertilizer application to his crops.
βMaaari ko pong gawin sa aking taniman ang natutunan ko. Kahit pala hindi ako bumili ng abono, marami palang maaaring gawing pataba sa aking mga halaman sa bahay na hindi na ako kailangang gumastos.β Fabiala stressed.
During the seminar, the importance of household food production was emphasized. In addition, the resource person discussed the different urban agriculture techniques and crops suitable for urban gardening as well as production technology of lowland vegetables including nutrient management and pest management.
Further, the participants were also introduced to natural inputs that are easily available in their respective households. More importantly, they were taught the basics of farm recording.
