The Agricultural Training Institute- Central Luzon ( ATI-CL) ย concluded the second batch of Training of Trainers on Digital Agriculture Course for RCEF (TOT DAC4RCEF), held at Merryland Farm and Pavilion, Pulilan, Bulacan on May 27-30, 2024.

The said training aimed to equip trainers from Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) in Region III and produce quality trainers that can be utilized for the roll-out of DAC4RCEF in the farm and community. It ย was facilitated in partnership with Merryland Farm and Pavilion, Accredited ย Private Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Service Provider (PAF-ESP).

A total of 20 participants from Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) in Region III, including youth-farmer tandems from different LSAs and farm schools, gainedย  knowledge and skillsย  from using Smartphone, Accessing the Internet, and different Mobile Applications which was discussed by Mr. Jian Carlo Castillo, owner of Merryland Farm and Pavilion, also a graduate of TOT on DAC4RCEF.

In addition, Mr. John Patrick S. Gutierez, ATI-CL Technical Support Staff IV, discussed Social Media Marketing, E-commerce in the Philipines and in Agricultural Marketing, Digital Transactions, How to create Social Media Content and Canva Poster Making, and Communication and Presentation Skills that enables them to explore other side of digital media and agriculture.

Furthermore, Ms. Meamette Y. Rosario, ATI-CL Technical Support Staff discussed different Agriculture Application such as Binhing Palay App, E-damuhan, AgriDoc App, Leaf Color Computing (LCC) App, Minus One Element Technique (MOET) App, and Rice Crop Manager Advisory Services (RCMAS).

Also, Mr. Kent Edward S. Ballesteros, Media Production Specialist II, discussed the basic agriculture applications such as E-learning for Agriculture, Pinoy Rice Knowledge Bank, PhilRice Text Center and Farmerโ€™s Contact Center, Internet Safety Basics, and Facebook Marketplace that enables the participants to deepen their understanding on the role of digital technologies and applications which is to achieve the โ€˜high yield but low production costโ€™ through these agriculture applications.

The training also addressed current agricultural challenges, which is the impact of El Niรฑo in the country. Ms. Lily Dela Cruz, ATI-CL Agriculturist II, briefed the participants about how the phenomenon affects the rice farming industry and providing strategies to mitigate its effects in their farm.

In addition, Mr. Gutierez encouraged the participants to be an instrument to equip the local farmers in their communities on modern agriculture applications.

After the three-day ย activity, the participants were given a chance to plan on what their next steps after attending the training of trainers, which will be monitored by the training management team after six months.
