The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL), in partnership with the Office of Senator Grace Poe (OSGP) and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) in Tarlac, ignited hope to the young farmers of Tarlac through the conduct of Provincial Training on Goat Production for Binhi ng Pag-asa Program (BPP) beneficiaries held at Farmer's Training Center, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), Camiling, Tarlac from June 18-20, 2024.
During the opening program, Ms. Guia D. Reyes, BPP Coordinator, warmly welcomed the participants.
Ms. Elsa F. Victoria, ATI_CL, Chief of CDMS, and Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, Vice President of Research, Extension and Training (VPRET) of Tarlac Agricultural University, extended their message and support to the youth of Tarlac.
Β Mr. Jyleazar F. Dela Rosa, OSGP Chief Political Affairs Officer, encouraged the participants, emphasizing their role as future leaders and agripreneurs with the statement, "Kabataan ang tagapagtaguyod ng Bayan."
Mr. Danny Pantig, Provincial Youth Coordinator of Tarlac, empowered the participants as he delivered his message in the opening program in behalf of Ms. Alicia Cruz, the Provincial Agriculturist of Tarlac.
βKayo na mga nandito ngayon, ipinadala ng inyong kaniya-kaniyang munisipyo, ang magpapastol sa mga susunod na young farmers,β quipped Mr. Pantig said as he illustrates leaders being a shepherd.Mr. JayleazarΒ Dela Rosa from the OSGP served as the resource person for BINHI 101 while Mr. Armani Miguel Narca and Ms. Russel Ceanne discussed the following modules: National Situation;Leadership and Values Formation;
Β Agricultural Advocacies; Agripreneurship; and Social Media in Farming.
In addition, Dr. Ma Asuncion Beltran, former VP-RET of TAU, thoroughly discussed the Module 6-Goat Production with the following lessons: Potentials of Goat Production; Production Management; Ranging, Feeds, and Feeding; and Common Diseases of Goats.
Further, Dr. Annalie Paragas, Associate Professor I of College of Veterinary Medicine discussed Add -on Enterprise on Goat Production.
In the completion of the training process, the participants experienced hands-on activities such as UMMB Making, Silage Preparation, Age Identification through Dentition and Ear tagging at TAU AI Laboratory.
Β Dr. Allan Jeffrey Francia, Dr. Annalie B Paragas, and Dr. Lavina Gracia M. Ramirez, from the College of Veterinary Medicine guided the participants in their demonstration of the said hands-on activity.
Ms. Pamela Joy Jonatas, one of the participants, said, βAttending the training session of Binhi ng Pag-asa Program is a privilege to me. I also believe that being part of the BPP training on trainers is not just an accident but also an opportunity for me as a young agriculturist.β
βI was inspired by how much potential there is in goat farming, both economically and sustainably,β she added.
Additionally, a total of 18 youth participants from Tarlac's municipalities/city are expected to share their newfound knowledge and hope with fellow youth, encouraging them to engage in agriculture and become future leaders.
Moreover, the ignited hope will continue to spread across Tarlac's municipalities until October this year.
To serve as the final output, the participants prepared and submitted a re-entry plan.
