The Agricultural Training Institute- Central Luzon (ATI-CL) together with the Techno Gabay Program (TGP) partners, opened doors for local farmers of San Manuel, Tarlac through the re-launching of the Farmersβ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center held on July 16, 2024.
The TGP team awarded the ICT equipment and materials to the FITS Center which the farmers can use for their future training and activities.During the program, Dr. Joey A. Belarmino, ATI-CL, Center Director, conveyed his message of support to the newly enhanced FITS Center and to the local farmers who attended.
In addition, Hon. DoΓ±a Cresencia R. Tesoro, Municipal Mayor of San Manuel, Tarlac, extended her gratitude to the TGP team for accepting their request to enhance their FITS Center for their local farmers. She also added that she supported the program because of his late father who established the first FITS Center in their municipality 10 years ago.
Dr. Yolanda Guillermo, Tarlac Agricultural University, TGP Coordinator, left a message of support by giving the local farmers an assurance that their office will provide IEC materials from different agricultural agencies, so that they will have materials they can read to be familiarized with the new farming technologies.
Ms. Eula Dee A. LaΓ±ada, ATI-CL, TGP Coordinator, gave an overview of the Techno Gabay Program including its components. She highlighted the importance and role of FITS Center to the local farmers in the community.
Mr. Louie Prado, Municipal Agriculturist, thanked and reassured the TGP team that the launching of their FITS Center will not be the last activity that will happen in their FITS Center. He is looking forward to their future training and activities with the help of the TGP team.
Moreover, Mr. Eulogio Cabiles, Local Farmer Technician, thanked the TGP team for the opportunity to expand their knowledge in new technologies in farming.
The program was concluded through the closing remarks of Mr. Marlon Tolenada from OPA-Tarlac who also gave support to the newly enhanced FITS Center and extended his support by allowing the municipality to seek help from their office if they needed assistance.
The FITS Center is one of the TGP's extension mechanisms, designed to provide science-and technology-based services and information to end users within the agriculture and fisheries industries. It is a one-stop shop offering services to clients in a certain area, including farmers and business owners.Β
Additionally, it offers quick access to technology and information in formats that suit the demands of the clients. Farmers and fishermen will benefit greatly from the FITS Center's presence in the area.
