The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL), in collaboration with the Office of Senator Grace Poe (OSGP) and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in Tarlac, produced 20 graduates in the conduct of Municipal Training on Goat Production for the Binhi ng Pag-asa Program (BPP) beneficiaries of Tarlac Batch 5.ย 

This training, conducted from July 30 to August 1, 2024, at the Farmer's Training Center, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), Camiling, Tarlac.

The BPP training was designed to enhance the leadership and values of young beneficiaries while managing their agricultural and fisheries activities.ย 

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Rolly P. Gonzales, Youth Coordinator and BPP Focal Person of Tarlac City, welcomed the participants. โ€œKayo ang magiging catalyst of change ng inyong mga barangay,โ€ quipped Mr. Gonzales.

Ms. Norma P. Tongol, City Agriculturist of Tarlac City, expressed her support for the youth in her address. Ms. Charlene Gonzales, PEO I/Project Officer, provided an overview of the training.ย 

The modules presented by Mr. Jeremy V. Evaristo and Mr. Roman Paulo B. Baet, National Training of Trainersโ€™ graduates, including the National Situation, Leadership and Values Formation, Agricultural Advocacies, Agripreneurship, and Social Media in Farming.

Dr. Ma. Asuncion Beltran, former TAU VP-RET, delivered a discussion on Goat Production, covering its potential, production management, feeding, and common diseases. Dr. Annalie Paragas, Associate Professor I at the College of Veterinary Medicine, addressed Add-on Enterprises in Goat Production, while Mr. John Arris E. Rayo from the College of Agriculture and Forestry discussed the economics of goat production.

Furthermore, the participants engaged in hands-on activities at the TAU AI Laboratory, including UMMB Making, Silage Preparation, Age Identification through Dentition, and Ear Tagging, guided by Dr. Allan Jeffrey Francia, Dr. Annalie B. Paragas, and Dr. Lavina Gracia M. Ramirez from the College of Veterinary Medicine.

During the closing program, Mr. Leonardo J. Basilio III remarked, "Ako, ikaw, tayo, ang binhi ng pag-asa" yan ang pinakatumatak na kataga sa akin. Ito ay simpleng grupo ng salita na pinagbuklod upang makabuo ng isang pangungusap na nagpapa-alala sa aming mga kabataang naririto na kami ang mga lampara na maghahatid ng liwanag ng panibagong pag-asa.โ€

Moreover, as graduates of Municipal Training - Batch 5, they are expected to apply their new skills and inspire their peers to pursue agriculture and embrace leadership roles.ย 

This training is anticipated to continue spreading across Tarlacโ€™s municipalities through October 2024.
