In celebration of National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM), the Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a one-day seminar on the health benefits of brown and pigmented rice held at the ATI-RTC III, San Ramon Dinalupihan, Bataan on November 4, 2024.
The activity, led by Ms. Mariel B. Baldoz, Project Officer/Agriculturist I, aimed to share important details to the participants on the nutritional advantages of these rice varieties and promote responsible consumption practices.
Dr. Joey A. Belarmino, Center Director, ATI-CL, delivered an inspirational message messages to the attendees citing the health benefits of brown and pigmented rice.
Furthermore, the discussions highlighted the importance of rice for food security and its role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).
The event also sought to support local farmers by promoting rice self-sufficiency and improving their income while encouraging healthier dietary choices among consumers.
Moreover, a follow-up seminar was held on November 7, 2024, at Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) in Abucay, Bataan, targeting 51 students and consumers to raise awareness during this special month.
