The Agricultural Training Institute-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) conducted a three-day workshop on "Crafting of Regional Agriculture and Fisheries (AF) Extension Roadmap for Rice and Onion FY 2026-2030" held at the Merryland Integrated Farm and Training Center Inc., Brgy. Taal, Pulilan, Bulacan from October 28 to 30, 2024.
The workshop was attended by representatives from differentΒ sectors, including Provincial Local Government Units (PLGUs) from Region III, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached agencies (DA-Regional Field Office III, Bureau of Plant Industry, National Irrigation Administration, Philippine Rice Research Institute), as well as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), LandBank of the Philippines, farmer cooperatives from Nueva Ecija (such as Kalasag MPC and the Federation of Seed Growers), East West Seeds Foundation, ALSA, PAF-ESP, and ATI-CL staff.
Dr. Joey A. Belarmino, Center Director of ATI-CL, gave a warm message and presented the AFE Regional Profile.
Additionally, Ms. Elsa F. Victoria, Chief of CDMS, acknowledged the participants, followed by an overview of the activity by Ms. Reinalyn C. Gulen, OIC-Chief of PAS.
The Rice Extension Roadmap was first crafted with Ms. Elsa F. Victoria, Chief of CDMS, serving as moderator for stakeholderβs analysis validation and AFE Goal/Objective Setting Strategy Formulation. In addition, Ms. Reinalyn Gulen, OIC-Chief of PAS, also discussed the SWOT analysis and Programs and Projects. Mr. Marciano C. Santos, Planning Officer II, served as moderator for the Policy and Regulation. Further, Ms. Eula Dee A. LaΓ±ada, OIC-Chief of ISS, discussed the roles and responsibilities of AFE Providers.
The feedback of the invited stakeholders was also gathered for the improvement of the output.
Following the crafting of the rice extension roadmap was the development of the onion extension roadmap. Same with the crafting of the rice extension roadmap, the moderators led the stakeholders in crafting a comprehensive onion roadmap which could benefit the country in the following years.
The event concluded with a synthesis of the workshop's key outcomes and the awarding of certificates to participants and partner agencies.
Moreover, this workshop is part of ATI-CL's ongoing efforts to strengthen regional agricultural and fisheries extension programs, with a focus on improving agricultural practices and supporting sustainable development in the region.
