PHILIPPINE-ISRAEL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE YOUTH

 

This is an 11-month on-farm training composed of five (5) days On-the-Job Training (OJT) in the farms and one (1) day theoretical classes. Tours are also provided.

The conduct of the internship program shall be hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel in coordination with the targeted host farm families/private companies in the country. Interns are housed in a Kibbutz or Moshav and hosted in the farms where farmers will pay them for their working time.

Interns are expected to have first-hand experience with Israeli modern agricultural and fisheries technologies and methods. Interns shall choose between Horticulture and Animal Science and shall take the entire course syllabus under the chosen program. The comprehensive syllabus is specified in Annex 1.

Basic Qualification:

  1. Graduates of BS Agriculture and other related courses, between 21-33 years of age, single, has no live-in partner nor pregnant or with a child at the time of application and departure;
    1. ABE -Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
    2. BSFi/BSFAS/BS Aqua - Fisheries/ Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences/Aquaculture
    3. ABM/AB -Agribusiness Management/ Agricultural Business BAT-Bachelor in Agricultural Technology
    4. ABT-Agricultural Biotechnology
    5. VetTech - Veterinary Technology
    6. VetMed -Veterinary Medicine
    7. BSAF/BSF - AgroForestry/ Forestry
    8. BSEE/BSES - Environmental Engineering/ Environmental Science
    9. AgEcon - Agricultural Economics
  1. Preferably a son or daughter of a farmer, fisher, or a cooperator of the ATI-\certified LSA, or Farm School;
  2. Has existing agricultural land, regardless of size and status of ownership;
  3. Has good community standing and /or good moral character certified by the Barangay Chairman;
  4. Has no overdue obligation from the DA or ATI at the time of application;
  5. Must not be related by consanguinity or affinity within 2nd degree to any ATI employee (ei, parent, sibling, child, grandparent, grandchild, spouse, parent- in-law, daughter/son-in-law);
  6. Not a recipient of ATI's other IIPs, and has no previous overseas travel related to the IIPs;
  7. All laboratory results and medical certificates must include a "Fit to Work" clearance and must be obtained through medical examinations conducted at diagnostic clinics, hospitals, or laboratories accredited by the Department of Health (DOH).

These are:

  • General doctor examination
  • General blood tests
  • HIV test
  • Hepatitis B test
  • Pregnancy test
  • Neuro-psychological tests and certification of no history of any mental illness certified by a licensed Psychologist from a government hospital.

Roles and Responsibilities of Interns:

  1. Interns must be medically healthy and physically fit to perform the intense field physical work as part of the practical training. Each intern must submit a correct and accurate medical statement before arriving in Israel;
  2. The theoretical studies within the program require frequent use of computers by the interns (among other things, computers are used during classes, exams, distance learning, and through online learning). Hence, it is highly recommended that every intern bring his or her laptop for this purpose;
  3. Adopt a positive outlook towards Israel and its people;
  4. Respect the culture, customs, and traditions of the people of Israel;
  5. Comply with all terms and conditions of the program, including, without limitation, the following:
    1. Comply with the working system of the training tutors and the regulations imposed for the interns;
    2. Accept assigned tasks, professional guidelines and evaluation of AgroStudies and the training tutors;
    3. Not to be involved in activities other than the practical training and the academic assignments under the Program;
    4. Abide by the laws and regulations of Israel; and
    5. Airfare from and to the Philippines and other fees payable by the interns according to the Program rules, and/or the Israeli law.
  6. Prepare at least Php 148,000.00 which can be sourced out from sponsors that will cover the two-way international ticket (Manila, Philippines to Tel Aviv, Israel and vice-versa), local travelling expenses (which shall cover airfare for those travelling by plane or land transportation), travel tax, travel insurance, medical examination, medicines, and other incidental/miscellaneous fees for the internship. Any excess amount shall be returned to the interns (Annex 2. Breakdown of Counterpart Fund of Intern);
  7. Complete the internship program, based on the mutual internship agreement;
  8. Constantly communicate, provide updates, and submit a monthly monitoring report to the ATI-RTCs including the daily activity record or journal and other issues and concerns;
  9. Be entitled to receive from their assigned tutors' allowance according to the Israeli law approximately US$9.00 per hour, for eight (8) hours a day of practical training which can allow them to cover the income tax, national insurance, medical insurance, board and lodging, travel, program fees and other miscellaneous expenses while under the AgroStudies program in Israel;
  10. Conceptualize a Business Enterprise Plan (BEP) during his/her 11-month internship program;
  11. Communicate regularly with the DA-ATI during and after the internship program;
  12. Submit a semi-annual status report of re-entry plan and project to ATl·RTCs;
  13. Share knowledge, and skills learned during the training program with fellow countrymen for a period of not less than two (2) years after return to the Philippines, either by putting up a model or demonstration farm and assisting the community, province, or region in the conduct of training and other extension activities. Interns should also periodically inform ATI and the DA of these activities;
  14. In case of failure to continue the program, the intern shall immediately inform all the parties involved. The interns should wait for the approval of the implementing parties before taking any actions; and
  15. Shoulder the returning traveling expenses in cases of non-completion of the program due to invalid reasons except for major health issues, unforeseen family events, such as death, and force majeure in the host country.

Documentary Requirements:

  1. Application Form; (Form 1)
  2. Certification from the Municipal Agricultural Officer (MAO) as a bonafide son or daughter of a farmer, fisher, or a cooperator of the ATI-certified LSA, or Farm School;
  3. Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the Barangay; (Form 2)
  4. Certified True Copy of Transcript of Record (TOR) or Certification from the last school attended;
  5. Certified True Copy of College Diploma;
  6. Original National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) or Police Clearance with 1- year validity;
  7. Authenticated copy of PSA Birth Certificate or Certificate of live birth from the Local Civil Registrar Office;
  8. Notarized Affidavit of no relation with ATI employee within the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity; (Form 3) and
  9. Original Philippine Passport valid for at least (3) years at the time of application.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certified true copy of Training Certificates on agriculture and non-agriculture courses; and
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) or ID.
