To enhance the knowledge and skills of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in formulating the Municipal Development Plan for Agriculture and Fisheries, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted the Appreciating Local Development Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluating Towards Agriculture and Fisheries Prioritization at Lola's Healthy Farm Poblacion, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro on March 10, 2025.
During the training, the 23 AEWs in the province of Occidental Mindoro were given an overview of the local development planning, emphasizing the need to integrate agriculture and fisheries into municipal and provincial development plans. They were also given lectures on the key policies and frameworks that guide local governance and economic development, ensuring alignment with national priorities and global sustainability goals.
Moreover, the activity focused on educating the participants on the importance of data-driven decision-making. This enabled the participants to be informed about the practical tools and methodologies for assessing program effectiveness, tracking progress, and addressing implementation gaps.
To apply their learnings, the participants engaged in workshop activities to further enhance their skills facilitated by the training’s resource person, Mr. Franklin Bel Tacalan Isip, Department Head of the Municipal Government of Minalabac, Camarines Sur. These included the workshop on the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for Agriculture and Fishery (AF), as well as the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for cyclic planning and developing the M&E plan for AF PPAs and legislations.
As their output, the participants drafted their MDPs focused on AF as well as their re-entry plans in setting concrete steps for integrating AF prioritization into their development initiatives.
