Aiming to equip farmer leaders with essential digital literacy skills and knowledge in using agricultural applications and online platforms, a total of 25 participants completed the “Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 101–102 Rollout Batch II” training, spearheaded by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA on May 5–7, 2026, in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
The training started with a message of support from ATI-MIMAROPA Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barriento, delivered through a pre-recorded video. He encouraged the participants to take the training seriously, apply what they learned in their respective communities, and share their knowledge with fellow farmers to help improve productivity, efficiency, and income.
The three-day training provided participants with lectures and workshops. On the first day, discussions focused on Smartphone 101, internet access, mobile applications, internet safety, and basic agricultural tools such as AccuWeather and the e-Learning platform.
On the second and third days, participants explored more advanced topics, including social media marketing using platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and various e-commerce platforms. They also learned about advanced agricultural applications such as Plant Doctor, SPIDTECH, and Maya for online payments.
Aside from lectures, the participants actively engaged in hands-on activities. With guidance from resource speakers, they were able to design their own product promotional materials using Canva, explore and complete online courses, develop social media marketing plans, and create dream boards.
Mr. Erlan D. Pasana, OIC-ISS Chief; Mr. Michael Daven T. Jugno, Information Officer II; and Mr. John Eric V. Arguelles, Technical Support Staff, served as the resource persons for the training.
