To orient rice farmers in Palawan on the latest updates of the Rice Crop Manager Advisory Services (RCMAS) and to generate site-specific recommendations they can apply to their farms, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted two batches of RCMAS briefings on May 10, 2025 and May 13, 2025 in Brooke’s Point and Sofronio Española, respectively.
Showing their support, Agriculturist II Mr. Krist Joseph J. Cadlaon of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO)-Brooke’s Point and Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Nimfa M. Bajo of MAO-Sofronio Española graced the activity. In their messages, they emphasized the significance of RCMAS recommendations in improving rice production and commended the participants for their enthusiasm and active involvement.
Throughout the one-day briefing, participants were introduced to the purpose and benefits of RCMAS. Each farmer underwent an individual interview and received a personalized, one-page RCMAS recommendation tailored to their specific farm conditions.
Encouraged by the insights they gained, the participants expressed their motivation to implement the recommendations on their rice farms, hoping these would help address pressing issues such as the rising cost of farm inputs.
To sustain this momentum, the Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers of Brooke’s Point and Sofronio Española committed to enhancing their facilities and equipment to better serve rice farmers seeking RCMAS support.
In total, 100 customized recommendations were generated through the initiative. This effort is part of the Department of Agriculture-ATI’s ongoing commitment to promoting digital agriculture and ensuring that local farmers have access to modern, data-driven solutions.
