Aiming to address critical gaps in data handling, analysis, and reporting, a total of 27 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) in the province of Marinduque participated in the capacity-building training titled “Mapping the Mind of Data: Training on Data Processing, Analysis, and Reporting,” on March 16–20, 2026, at Hotel Marinduque, Brgy. Isok I, Boac, Marinduque.
Facilitated by Dr. Franklin Bel T. Isip, Department Head of the Municipal Government of Minalabac, Camarines Sur, the training provided hands-on learning, allowing participants to apply step-by-step data processing workflows.
During the discussion, AEWs learned how data quality affects report reliability and program decisions. They practiced data cleaning, validation, and organization on sample datasets while identifying common errors such as duplicates, missing values, and inconsistent formats.
The training also equipped them with skills in data analysis, including computing and interpreting frequency counts, percentages, and simple cross-tabulations. They learned to translate statistical outputs into actionable insights, identifying trends in farmers’ needs, production constraints, and training gaps.
A key highlight was the focus on data visualization and reporting. Participants created graphs, charts, and summary tables, integrating them into evidence-based reports. Through guided workshops, each group produced a data-driven presentation to effectively communicate findings to local government units, farmers’ groups, and partner agencies.
The data storytelling session further strengthened AEWs’ skills in turning complex datasets into clear narratives. They presented their outputs with visuals and key messages, showing how to make data understandable and actionable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Finally, the training reinforced the practical application of data in planning, monitoring, and evaluation. AEWs gained a clearer understanding of how to use processed data for needs assessments, program targeting, and performance tracking, ensuring that extension services become more responsive and evidence-based.
“Unang-una po, nagpapasalamat ako sa opportunity na ito. Bilang isang taong nag-a-analyze talaga ng data, hindi na po ito ang unang beses na gumawa ako ng data analysis. Noong nakaraang taon, nagsagawa po ako ng analysis para sa thesis ng isang Agriculture student. Lubos din po akong nagpapasalamat dahil sa training na ito ay lalo pang lumawak ang aking kaalaman, lalo na sa data analysis—kung paano maging mas accurate at maayos ang mga report, lalo na kapag nagsusulat na ng analysis,” shared Jhon Lloyd Ian M. Largado, Municipal Agriculture Office - Mogpog Staff.
This initiative underscores ATI’s commitment to equipping AEWs with modern, data-driven skills, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of agricultural extension programs that serve local communities.
