As the country celebrates its Independence Day, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) MIMAROPA remains committed to capacitating identified Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Group in Oriental Mindoro.
Despite the holiday season, ATI MIMAROPA in collaboration with DA-MIMAROPA is conducted Training Trainers on PGS for Identified PGS Group in Oriental Mindoro at ATI-RTC MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on June 12-23, 2023 and was participated by 23 participants.
The said TOT aims to capacitate the identified PGS Group in Oriental Mindoro on the establishment and operations of PGS consistent with the organic agriculture standards and corresponding technical regulations and in preparation for their application for certification and accreditation.
As part of the Training of Trainers on Participatory Guarantee System (PGS), the partipants conducted a simulation activity on peer review at Kuatro Maria's Farm, located at San Narciso, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro.
Peer Review refers to a process where farmer members assess the farming practices of their peers to verify compliance to the applicable PNS for organic agriculture, and the internal policies and procedures set by the PGS group.
The said activity enables farmers to develop essential skills and confidence in conducting effective peer review on PGS.
