The participants, together with the ATI staff and members of the Philippine Army, posed for a photo opportunity during the High-Value Crops Month celebration.

PILI, Camarines Sur- The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center V (ATI Bicol) celebrated the High-Value Crops Month on April 29, 2025, at Isarog Hall, ATI Bicol, Pili, Camarines Sur, with the theme “Pagkaing Sapat, MAsustansya Dapat” (Enough Food Must Be Nutritious). The event aimed to promote the overall health and well-being of stakeholders by emphasizing that food security must integrate food safety, nutritional adequacy, and dietary diversity. Fifty (50) farmer leaders from Naga City participated in the activity.

Mr. John Kenneth M. Gelario, Agriculturist I and Project Officer, welcomed the participants, guests, resource persons, and members of the Activity Management Team. Dr. Emmanuel L. Orogo, Assistant Center Director of ATI Bicol, delivered the opening message, while 2LT Dionisio R. Sabolbora, Platoon Leader of the 2nd Platoon, 1st CMO Company, 9CMOBn, CMOR, PA, conveyed his message of support on behalf of the Philippine Army. Mr. Gelario then provided an overview of the activity, highlighting the nutritional advantages of high-value crops in improving health and quality of life.

The technical sessions began with Ms. Michelle A. Betillo, Nutritionist-Dietitian II from the Department of Health – Regional Office V, who discussed the nutritional benefits of high-value crops. She was followed by Ms. Maricris C. Reforba, Agriculturist II of DA-RFO V, who introduced the mandates and programs of the Department of Agriculture. Lastly, Ms. Nida H. Garcia, Planning Officer II of ATI-RTC V, discussed ATI’s key programs and services in support of high-value crop development.

Following the sessions, evaluation forms were distributed, and the brief closing program commenced. Mr. Gelario delivered the closing remarks, expressing appreciation to all attendees and acknowledging the Philippine Army for their support and participation in the success of the event.
