YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ON ORGANIC AGRICULTURE (YIPOA) FOR INTERNS AND FARM PARTNERS BATCH 4
The Youth Internship Program on Organic Agriculture is a highly specialized internship program designed to instill and develop youth’s appreciation and eagerness for organic agriculture and eventually adopt it as their source of income.
The program provides start-up support and mentoring for implementing their business plan, thus empowering them to become organic agripreneurs.
Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) organic certified farm and Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) have been identified as Farm Partners for the Youth Internship Program on Organic Agriculture, whose area shall be used as a training ground for the Internship component of the Program and provide lectures, orientation, and technical assistance to the interns during their first nine months of internship.
Patterned after the Korean Government, wherein there is 100% engagement of the scholars in agriculture after the training completion. This 21-month internship program for Filipino youth pursues to fully imbibe the “Life of a Farmer” and organic practices.
Eligibility Criteria for Interns:
- Age 18 to 35 years old at the time of application, preferably single
- Natural-born Filipino citizen
- Interested to venture in the agriculture industry, especially in practicing organic agriculture
- Willingness to undertake a 21-month internship and hands-on practice contract
- Physically and mentally fit
- Has good community standing or moral character
Documentary Requirements for Interns:
- Clear scanned copy of any valid government-issued ID (indicating the date of birth)
- Notarized Sworn Statement as proof of willingness and commitment to undertake organic agriculture-related activities/enterprises after the training
- Business/Enterprise Proposal (BEP)
- Medical certificate indicating “fit to work” and no underlying health condition such as hypertension, heart problem, asthma, or history of psychological disorder
- At least two (2) recommendation letters from a community leader (e.g. barangay captain, parish priest, school principal, civil society organization, farmers’ cooperative, or association)
- Proof of land in establishing the Business/Enterprise Plan (ie. Owned, Leased, Rented, or Donated) or a certification from the LGU/ATI RTC that there is available land for the planned business/enterprise, per validation
- Bank account details, preferably LBP if available;
- Trainings attended if available
- Have no overdue obligations from the DA or ATI at the time of application
- Accomplished application form with 2x2 hard and soft copy pictures
Eligibility Criteria for Farm Partners:
- Farm operator/owner of certified organic by Participatory Guarantee System or Third-Party or chemical-free farm, preferably LSA-certified farm
- Must be in operation for at least one (1) year
- Has farm activities within the value chain, either production, value-adding, processing, or marketing
- Has basic farm tools, equipment, or facilities needed for its operation
- Has accommodation facility for at least two (2) interns
- Can provide food for the interns
- Has an Internship Program Plan for 9-months
- With good community standing and has no proven derogatory record
- The farm area is not part of the identified conflict zones
Documentary Requirements for Farm Partners:
- Notarized Affidavit as owner/operator of an organic certified by Participatory Guarantee System or Third-Party or chemical-free farm, preferably LSA-certified farm
- Farm Journal
- Financial statement from the previous year’s of operation
- Farm layout, Photos of the farm and its facilities, including accommodation areas
- List and biodata of resource persons/trainers
- Internship Program plan and design, including performance evaluation and post-internship
- At least two (2) recommendation letters from a community leader (e.g. barangay captain, parish priest, school principal, civil society organization, farmers’ cooperative, or association)
- Certification from their respective Philippine National Police Offices as not part of the conflict
- Accomplished Application Forms with 2x2 hard and soft copy pictures
