CARLES, Iloilo - Coconut farmers from the municipalities of Balasan, Batad, Carles, Estancia, and Sara in Northern Iloilo were briefed about pest and disease management during the pest clinic on September 12, 2024, in line with the technical briefing on coconut.
Some experts in integrated pest management (IPM) and crop protection from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and Northern Iloilo State University (NISU)-Barotac Viejo Campus served as technical experts during the pest clinic with 50 participants.

Joylyn Gaitan, Agriculturist II of PCA-Antique, presented the topic of coconut pest and disease management and served as a technical expert during the consultation. Meanwhile, Marjohn Niño, Crop Protection Specialist and Associate Professor V from NISU-Barotac Viejo provided consultations and technical advice on managing various crops’ pests and diseases.

Moreover, PCA-Iloilo Provincial Coconut Development Manager (PCDM) Joel Solis graced the event and presented the programs and services under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP) that coconut farmers can participate in. Likewise, on behalf of Mayor Siegfredo Betita, Lou Andrea Betita, Executive Sectary from the Mayor’s Office, delivered the welcome remarks and encouraged the participants to take the opportunity to gain knowledge that they can use in their farming endeavors.
