The Seed of Hope: Young Farmer Leaders are now ready to rise from demean as they receive their most awaited certificate with Vianney T. Ojerio, ATI Region 6’s RBO Focal Person/Project Officer, and Dr. Ma. Jhoanna Gonzales-Guarin, ASU’s Associate Professor V/Resource Person.
BANGA, Aklan – In pursuit of uplifting the morale of youth in the region, ATI Region 6 capacitates 33 young farmer leaders by conducting the third batch of the Capability Enhancement of Rural-Based Organization Leaders in Western Visayas on June 4-6, 2024, at ATI Training Hall, ASU Compound.
Despite the advent of advanced technologies, the youth of today suffer from personal growth, each grappling with family obligations, loss, poverty, abandonment, violence, and rejection. They need to rise from their demeanor, and guiding them with a definite plan for a bright future is essential.
Mary Ann A. Ramos, ATI Region 6’s Center Director, encourages young farmer leaders to believe in themselves regardless of some circumstances.
During her opening remarks, Mary Ann A. Ramos, Center Director, encouraged the youth to believe in themselves. She emphasized that there were a lot of programs created by the government that aligned with youth empowerment.
Dr. Jhoanna Gonzales-Guarin, ASU’s Associate Professor V/Resource Person, consciously tackles the importance of crafting a development plan.
On the other hand, Dr. Ma. Jhoanna Gonzales-Guarin, Associate Professor V of Aklan State University, who served as a resource person, discussed the importance of crafting a development plan.
“A five-year development plan narrows down the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives. A five-year development plan serves as the blueprint that guides the organization in crafting its tactical and operational plans. It allows us to identify better, relevant, specific targets and appropriate actions to take, which serves as the basis for the organization members to know how and where to allocate their time, talents, efforts, and resources. A plan generally clarifies our directions and allows us to aim and focus specifically on our priority targets. This is the same core principle that holds why a five-year development plan is important,” said Dr. Guarin.
Planting seeds of hope to our young farmer leaders is one of the priority programs of ATI Region 6 for the youth sector to rise from being marginalized.
Jose Alphonso Ceria, a Young Farmer Leader from the Province of Iloilo, is beyond grateful for the three-day training, and he delivers his appreciation during his impression.
Jose Alphonso Ceria, a Young Farmer Leader from the Province of Iloilo, is grateful for this training. He said, “Beyond the immediate learnings, I am committed to sharing the knowledge gained with my fellow 4-H members in my municipality, aiming to enhance our organization and initiate positive change. As an attendee, a 4-H-er, and a leader, I am determined to create a ripple effect of impact, embodying the role of a catalyst for change in our community. These learnings will not end here but will continue to shape and empower us to strive for excellence.”

To cap the training, Vianney T. Ojerio, RBO Focal Person/Project Officer, delivered his congratulatory message and challenge to our young farmer leaders. “Congratulations, everyone, on a job well done. You have now come up with a five-year development plan. My challenge for you is to turn that plan into reality.”
This three-day training aimed to enhance and strengthen the capability of the RBO officers and members by creating a five-year development plan as the basis for their plans, programs, and activities towards their active participation in the agriculture and fisheries sector and to complement the activities of ATI.
