ATI REGION 6'S ORGANIC AGRICULTURE PROGRAM KICKS OFF ITS FIRST ACTIVITY FOR FY2024 WITH INFORMATION CARAVAN

BANGA, Aklan – ATI Region 6 opens its door to enlighten and inform our 28 participants, composed of the youth, the Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) Cooperators, DA-RFO6 representatives, National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAB) delegates, Provincial Organic Agriculture (OA) Coordinators, and other organic practitioners, about the upcoming program under the Organic Agriculture Program through the information caravan on February 5, 2024, at ATI Training Hall, ASU Compound.

This one-day activity aimed to inform, educate, and communicate about the provision of youth scholarship grants on organic farming, knowing that there is a need for a massive information campaign to promote the program. Moreover, this undertaking brought together and mobilized the support of the agencies concerned for the clients as primary beneficiaries within the Region.

OIC-Asst. Center Director Vianney T. Ojerio served as the resource person and tackled the rationale and program description; its goals and objectives; scope and coverage; committee and functions; eligibility and criteria and its corresponding documentary requirements; mechanics of the implementation procedures; duties and responsibilities of the involved person; and monitoring and performance evaluation.

The open forum discusses issues, concerns, and other legal documents concerning interns, LSA Cooperators, and other attached agencies.

"We need to strengthen the intern-farm owner relationship. This program will provide two weeks to build rapport between the intern and the farm owner. In addition, we want them to inculcate the principles of extension, which are: live with the farmer, eat with the farmer, and sleep with the farmer", Mr. Ojerio said during the open forum.

He also encouraged our future interns to get incident insurance from PCIC.
