The Farmer-Scientist Training Program (FSTP) is a specialized course under the Corn Program. It is a technical science-based community development program focused on corn as a staple next to rice. It aims to produce farmer scientists who will contribute to developing the country's corn industry.

Additionally, it promotes a sustainable farming system and crops and livestock production to increase farmers' incomes, especially during adversities like El Niño. The program has three phases: Phase I, which involves values formation, research exposure, and technical empowerment; Phase II, which involves on-farm experimentation and technology adoption; and Phase III, which involves farmer-to-farmer technology transfer and adoption.

The FSTP Phase I program will run from April to August 2024.

The core group of FSTP in a Corn-based Production System for Sustainable Agricultural Development Phase I met with Ms. Mary Ann A. Ramos (middle), Center Director of ATI Region 6, before the implementation.
