NEW RCEF TRAINERS MOLDED THROUGH HIGH-QUALITY RICE SEEDS AND FARM MECHANIZATION TRAINING

BANGA, Aklan – “Napaka-fun learning experience. Natutunan namin ang kahalagahan ng pagiging adult learner. Una, kailangan muna naming magbago bago ang iba. Ibinahagi rin sa amin ang iba’t-ibang facilitation skills at palaycheck system. Ipinaranas din sa amin ang mga makabagong makinarya at teknolohiya sa pagsasaka,” expressed by some of the participants during the giving of impressions in the Training of Trainers on Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice and Seeds and Farm Mechanization on March 11-22, 2024, at ATI Training Hall, ASU Compound.

They comprised 30 participants from Local Government Units, Learning Sites for Agriculture, and Local Farmer Technicians in Aklan, Antique, and Capiz. They spent their time and best efforts in capturing new updates and technologies to aid in the convenience of farm activities and techniques, relevant information, and current trends in Agriculture, analyzing data that has significant effects on farming systems and developing their skills by innovating their ideas in problem-solving, risk-taking, and leadership through lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities, especially in farm mechanization and field work that the resource speakers from ATI, PhilRice, NFA, BPI-NSQCS, SUCs, and other private partners.

Additionally, the invited panelists evaluated their presentation skills through the microteaching activity. This activity measured the trainees’ capacity, capability, delivery, and memory in remembering what they have learned and latched into the bright side of teaching as they overcome their internal struggles in facing people and indulge in a new profound way of imparting change toward the betterment of farming, its system in their respective community.

This training aims to equip participants with knowledge, skills, and techniques in Rice Production and Farm Mechanization. It is also a part of the RCEF Program, nurturing an individual to take valuable actions as support in the agriculture sector’s program for enhancement and development. Its goal is to create a pool of trainers with enhanced knowledge, skills, and attitudes on implementing the Modified Season-Long Farmer Field School on the Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice and Seeds. With this, trainers will be devoted to sharing their learnings to farmers in their communities through LGUs and registered RCEF Farm Schools.
