NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan – "This training widens my interest in agriculture. Agriculture is not my degree, but engaging in this field is not too late. It's a stepping stone for me. I am hoping for more opportunities to come for everyone. We should promote agriculture to the young ones. We are all living proof of agriculture. We should be proud of it. Let's say I am proud to be a farmer," expressed Janeah A. Lecaniel from Lapidez Integrated Farm, Mambusao, Capiz, one of the 30 participants during the second batch of Training of Trainers on Production of High-Quality Inbred Rice and Seeds, and Farm Mechanization at GLS Agricultural Integrated Farm, Brgy. Mataphao on April 15-26, 2024.

The participants finished the 27 modules of the course. The lecture about transformational leadership helped them develop the attitude of being a leader and facilitator once they returned to their respective place. The lesson on presentation and communication skills taught them to stand confidently, especially when facing their clients, assess the information they are sharing, and gather with clarity and precision for the positive result of their lesson. Other topics discussed are rice's present situation in the country and the PalayCheck System, a vital component in rice production, post-harvest management, seed certification, and farm machinery operation.

Each participant presented their corresponding topics during their microteaching to assess their learnings. This activity measures how they integrate their learnings throughout the training with their presentations prepared for discussion.
The training lasted 11 days and provided participants with knowledge and information, improved skills, and developed attitudes through thorough discussion, workshops, and hands-on activities. This training aims to create a pool of trainers to implement the modified FFS among farm schools. These lessons they have learned pave the way to start anew as effective extension workers.
