Information Services Section Chief Florepe M. Mortalla anchors the maiden broadcast of Eskwelahan sa Kahanganinan: AGRIHAN-NATIN program with her first guest, Dir. Remelyn R. Recoter, ATI National Director.
BANGA, Aklan – ATI Region 6 launches its maiden broadcast of "Eskwelahan sa Kahanginan: AGRIHAN-NATIN," on February 17, 2025, a new radio program aimed at educating and empowering farmers and other stakeholders in Western Visayas. The program, a collaborative effort with Aklan State University (ASU), Banga, Aklan Campus, recently aired on DYMT-FM 100.9 kHz, the university's community radio station.
The magazine broadcast program seeks to provide listeners with practical knowledge and skills related to sustainable agricultural practices. The target audience includes smallholder farmers, youth, fisherfolk, rural-based organizations, and other stakeholders. "Eskwelahan sa Kahanginan: AGRIHAN-NATIN" will cover various topics, including crops, livestock, and marketing strategies. It will have a regional scope, with potential for national reach through its simultaneous broadcast on the DYMT-FM Community Radio and ATI Western Visayas Facebook page.
Engr. Remeyln R. Recoter, Director IV of the Agricultural Training Institute, graced the maiden broadcast. She encouraged listeners and viewers to tune in every Friday from 12:00 NN to 1:00 PM on DYMT-FM Community Radio and its associated Facebook pages. She also highlighted ongoing ATI initiatives, including:
- Youth Internship programs for Taiwan, Japan, and the recently signed Memorandum of Agreement for an internship program in Israel.
- Local internship programs focusing on Organic Agriculture and Corn Programs.
- The AgriHackathon, an innovation designed to address the aging farmer population by encouraging youth participation in agriculture.
- Agrikids, which has received recognition as an Anak TV Seal recipient for two consecutive years and as a finalist of the Catholic Mass Media Awards.
Director Recoter thanked the DYMT-FM Management and Dr. Jeffrey Clarin, SUC President III of Aklan State University, for their partnership in this vital endeavor. "Eskwelahan sa Kahanginan: AGRIHAN-NATIN" promises to be a valuable resource for farmers and a significant contribution to regional food security.
