The winners of the first ideation workshop of Agri-Tech Innovate: Accelerating Digital Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture & Fisheries with their respective coaches.


LA PAZ, Iloilo City – Central Philippine University, Aklan State University, and Capiz State University reign during the recently concluded first-ever Ideation Workshop of Agri-Tech Innovate: Accelerating Digital Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture & Fisheries, which is a pre-acceleration project that taps the knowledge and skills of Filipino youth in developing digital agriculture solutions, in Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) on March 24, 2025.

 

ATI National Director Remelyn R. Recoter delivers her message of gratitude to the participating schools. 

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut, Vice President for Research and Extension of ISAT-U, welcomed the guests and participants, emphasizing making the agriculture industry enticing to the younger generation. On the other hand, Dir. Remelyn R. Recoter, National Director of ATI, expressed her appreciation for the support of the participating schools. She reiterated the future of agriculture, focusing on digital agriculture, smart farming, and precision agriculture. Lastly, Mr. Ralph Joseph C. Moncatar, Regional Director of the Department of Information and Communications Technology – Region 6, delivered his message of support and instilled in the youth the significance of digitalization in various sectors.

 

ATI Region 6’s Assistant Center Director Vianney Ojerio presents the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Landscape to the participants that serves as their reference in creating digital solutions.

Mr. Vianney Ojerio, Assistant Center Director of ATI Region 6, presented the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Landscape. Meanwhile, Angel Supetran Jr. is a CPU-ARUGA Integrated Farming System and Engr representative. John Patrick Casipe, LSA Cooperator of INA Farmers Learning Site and Agri-Farm shared their testimonials and first-hand experiences about the industry. These presentations served as the participants' basis for creating a digital and creative solution to address and explore the sector's current trends, challenges, and problems.

 

Participating students eagerly exchange thoughts with Mr. Supetran to get some insights about the swine industry.

Eleven teams participated in a facilitated brainstorming session and an idea refinement session. After the refinement, they presented it to the panelists composed of Mr. Ojerio, Joever Nuevaespaña, CTO & Co-founder of ZenLabs Venture Management Inc., and Vanessa Joy Tuburan, Focal Person of DICT Region 6-ICT Industry Development Bureau (IDDB). The three best proposals will qualify for the second phase of this activity, the Boot Camp or the mentoring sessions, in Quezon City this June.

Other universities that attended the activity are ISAT-U, Guimaras State University, University of Antique, and State University of Northern Negros. This project aims to identify digital agriculture solutions or services that will help address challenges in the agriculture and fisheries sector. ATI collaborates with DICT-IIDB and ISAT-U in conducting this activity.
