FARMER-YOUTH PARTNERSHIP STRENGTHENS TOWARDS BOOSTED DIGITAL FARMING JOURNEY

WESTERN Visayas – Two batches of Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 102, the intermediate level of such program, composed of 20 digital farmers and 20 corresponding youth partners in the Region were organized on April 7-8, 2022 in Sapian, Capiz, and April 20-21, 2022 in Jordan, Guimaras.

As the fifth and sixth batches of DFP 102 Training since its commencement last year, the participants experienced a scaled-up digital farming journey through the utilization of mobile phones while accessing various mobile applications that include agricultural applications, social media platforms, e-commerce, and mobile money. Through their partnership, they were able to create and scan QR codes, access advanced agricultural applications, formulate and present social media content and marketing plan, acquire information and requirements in applying for e-commerce platforms such as eKadiwa, Lazada, and Shoppe, and lastly, download and register to PayMaya, a type of mobile money.

They also got the opportunity to showcase their learning in social media content creation and social media marketing plan by actively joining in the Online Poster Contest and Social Media Marketing Plan Formulation and Presentation. These activities will serve as their training ground and apply to their corresponding Facebook Pages.

In the first batch, the three pairs that reigned as the outstanding Social Media Marketing Planners are as follows: Sharon Irojo & Jhon Anthony Teodore; Raphael Leonor & Gabriel Leonor; and Angelita Omayao & Tia May Olivar while Marilou Olanga & Jhomers Esteves led the Online Poster Contest. On the other hand, the second batch recognized the following pairs as the best Social Media Marketing Planners: Minviluz S. Camina & Rene Aron Christoffer S. Olympia; Renalene C. Trompeta & Janella Marie C. Trompeta; and Maria Digna L. Banabatac & Kc Lyn F. Galon. As of writing, the Online Poster Contest for this batch is still running and will end on April 29, 2022. Each pair received mobile phones, home prepaid wifi, and load cards up to Php500.

DFP is a ladderized program of ATI and Smart Communications, Inc. and consists of three-level programs DFP 101 (Beginner), DFP 102 (Intermediate), and DFP 103 (Advance) to help farmers make better farming decisions, access more market opportunities, and increase their livelihood and income through the internet and mobile technology.
