As part of their hands-on activity, the participant needs to submit a Facebook poster made through the Canva application.

AKLAN, Western Visayas – Forty digital trainers in Western Visayas were born after completing the two batches of the three-day training of trainers of Digital Farmers Program (DFP) 101 and 102 at Bee bee Lodge, Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan last September 14-16, 2022 and at ATI Training Hall, ASU Compound, Banga, Aklan last September 21-23, 2022, respectively.

The said participants are composed of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), who are also assigned as Farmers' Information and Technology Service Center (FITS) Staff in their respective municipalities and Learning Site (LS) Cooperators and Trainers. Lectures and discussions on DFP Toolkit, DFP Facilitator’s Deck, and DFP User’s Guide were conducted. Furthermore, they underwent hands-on activities that include posting products on Facebook Marketplace, enrolling and graduating from DFP 101 e-Learning course, creating online product content via the Canva application, producing social media marketing content plans, microteaching the topics discussed and submitting the DFP 101 and 102 rollouts through action planning. They will also need to submit a recorded microteaching session per municipality/learning site after seven days of the training.

The numerous activities recognized notable participants who excelled in the following categories: Canva Poster Making, Social Media Marketing Planning, Fastest e-Learner, and Demo Back Presentation.

“The purpose of this training is to impart the knowledge to the farmers and to give them attention so that we can help them, not only in crop production but also to share the new technologies. To tell you the truth, they discouraged the usage of such especially those who are old age. We need to change their perspective,” expressed Jhon Michael B. Asong, representative of Agdahon Agriventures Farm in Capiz, during the Closing Program of the second batch.

After the training, the participants were expected to implement the DFP at the farmer level in their corresponding areas. This also encourages them to embrace the role of information and communication technology (ICT) guides for farmers and maximize their service delivery through ICT tools.
