OALEVELUP STRENGTHENS ITS WAYS TO PROMOTE ORGANIC AGRICULTURE

PAVIA, Iloilo - The ATI Region 6 organized an activity entitled OALevelUp: Capability Building for Local Government Units and Other Stakeholders on , held on March 3-7, at Pavia, Iloilo, as an implementer of the Department of Agriculture's objectives. 

 As the amended Organic Agriculture Act (RA 11511) takes credit with the role of local government units in implementing the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), it intends to include, encourage, and apply this kind of farming technique.

While discussing different topics, the participants note the essential lessons for future reference.

Agricultural Extension Workers, City, Provincial, and Municipal Organic Agriculture Coordinators and representatives, and other stakeholders, including faculty members in the SUC, are present during the activity, which constitutes 31 participants.


The participants came from the six provinces of Western Visayas and are believed to have played a massive role in implementing organic farming from the smallest to the upward unit of society.


The training includes modules regarding; the government's role in food security, roles and responsibilities of Local Government Units (LGUs) in the implementation of the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) according to Republic Act No. 10068, core programs of the National Organic Agriculture Program, introduction to enterprise/business plan, and farm visit.
