KALIBO, Aklan - A ceremony recognized the Integrated Barangays of Numancia Multi-Purpose Cooperative (IBON-MPC) of Numancia, Tinigaw Integrated Farmers Association of Kalibo, and Green Cups Garden of Balete as recipients of financial aid from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center VI on October 6 at the ABL Sports Complex.
With the endorsement of the Local Government Unit of Aklan, IBON MPC was awarded Php 150,000 under the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) to enhance the farm and upgrade the technologies showcased on-site. The LSA will assist the LGU in implementing various programs along the agricultural value chain, as stated in the Collaborative Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP).
On the same occasion, Portivillar V. Florentino, Sr. of Tinigaw Integrated Farmers Association, received Php 250,000 for a barangay-based vegetable nursery that will cater to the needs of the municipality and the province concerning vegetable seedlings and other crop production strategies.
Rey F. Peralta of Green Cups Garden was awarded Php 150,000 for establishing the Urban Community Garden that will cater to the needs of the municipality and the province in ensuring available, affordable, and healthy vegetables. The National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP) recognized both farmers.
Arnulfo T. Magcope, IBON MPC Manager, received the grant on behalf of the beneficiaries.
The financial assistance aims to help the facilities implement capability enhancement opportunities and demonstrate appropriate modern farming technologies, practices, and innovations.
As he closed his speech, President Marcos prompted that with trust and compassion for each other, the people will obtain stability as a nation.
