ANTIQUE, Western Visayas – ATI Region 6 expands its extension services through the establishment of three Farmers' Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers in the municipalities of Bugasong, Valderrama, and San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

The respective Municipal Mayors, Office of the Municipal Agriculture (OMA) Staff, Local Farmer Technicians (LFT), and Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC) attended the inauguration and turning over of catalytic fund worth Php 100,000.00 last February 10, 2022.

Freddie Vista, Municipal Agriculturist, of OMA-Bugasong expressed, “this program will have a big impact on our farmers and clientele in terms of technologies. We extend our support and commitment to this long-overdue project,” during the turn-over ceremony in their municipality.

Meanwhile, Nicolasita G. Gallego, Information Officer III/Chief, ISS of ATI Region 6, presented the overview of roles, and responsibilities of the FITS Centers, especially on the e-Learning courses, the access to Digital Agriculture Applications, and IEC development.

As a provider of information service, FITS provides IEC materials in different formats such as print (primer, comics, leaflets, and bulletins), audio-visual, broadcast, and e-based media. Additionally, it responds to client needs in terms of technology clinic, training, caravans, sale of planting materials, linkage, and enterprise development as its technological function. It is a one-stop service facility that is made accessible to a large number of farmers, entrepreneurs, and other clients in the locality.
