ATI REGION 6 LAUNCHES FIRST TRAINING ON KLIMAGRIKULTURA

Participants from the first batch of KlimAgrikultura are concentrating during their workshop on Climate Crop Calendar (3C).

BANGA, Aklan - Given the mandate of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) role as the capacity builder, knowledge bank, and catalyst of the Department of Agriculture (DA), in collaboration with PAGASA, conducted its first batch of Training on KlimAgrikultura and Climate Workshop last February 6-10, 2023 at the 4-H Club Hub, ATI-RTC VI, ASU Compound, Banga, Aklan. 

KlimAgrikultura is a new program of the DA-Agricultural Training Institute in partnership with DOST-PAGASA that aims to help agricultural extension workers and smallholder farmers improve climate-sensitive decisions to become more resilient to the effect of climate change. Also, it seeks to provide guidance and expertise to the extension workers on effectively utilizing weather and climate information.

"The training gave me knowledge about climate and how the data can be used as an advantage to enhance the productivity of our farmers," expressed Ms. Marel B. Inserto, Municipal Rice Coordinator of LGU-Malay, Aklan. 

"As an AEW, we must properly deliver what we have acquired from this training to our clientele. The workshop from this training is a learning opportunity for the farmers to be more resilient," she added. 

The Municipal Rice Coordinator, Rice Report Officer, and representatives from the Province of Aklan and Capiz participated in the five-day training.

The participants conveyed their learnings through their microteaching session and re-entry plans.
