KALIBO, Aklan – "Thank you, Lord, for giving me this opportunity. I learned so many things from this training through the intelligent resource persons. I am also thankful to the most approachable training management team. Let us all remember that this is not the end but the beginning of our digital farming journey. This is a huge break for all of us," expressed Ivy Ocquien, the farm school representative of GLS Agricultural Integrated Farm, New Washington, Aklan, during the sole implementation of the Training of Trainers on Digital Agriculture Course for RCEF on May 15-19, 2023, at the Kalibo County Inn.
Ms. Ocquien is one of the 20 participants from different TESDA-accredited farm schools in Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo. The activity comprises two modules, composed of DAC 101 and 102, and several activities and exercises that aid the trainers in planning and facilitating the conduct of the Digital Agriculture Course in their respective farm schools. They have formulated social media content and marketing plans, and re-entry plans. Moreover, they have showcased their learnings through a demo back session. They were equipped on the topics namely: Smartphone 101, Accessing the Internet and Internet Basic Safety Tips, Basic and Advanced Agriculture ICT Tools, Basic and Advanced Social Media Marketing, Agriculture Apps on Rice, e-Commerce Platforms, and Mobile Money.
Outstanding outputs were also recognized by awarding prizes for Best Social Media Marketing Planners, Best Social Media Content, and Best Presenters.
The participants will receive their certificate of completion upon evaluating their final requirement, the recorded microteaching sessions.
The program is adopted from ATI and Smart Communication's Digital Farmers Program, an ICT-based ladderized capacity development program focusing on essential digital tools for more complex services such as e-commerce and online payments.
