Ribbon cutting ceremony during the inauguration of the 30-Sow Level Swine Multiplier Techno Demo Farm in Brgy. Cairohan, Bingawan, Iloilo
BINGAWAN, Iloilo – ATI Region 6 and the KCARSI Farmers Association (KCARSI FA) with the Department of Agriculture-National Livestock Program (DA-NLP), Local Government Units (LGUs) of Iloilo and Bingawan celebrate the Inauguration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the 30-Sow Level Swine Multiplier Techno Demo Farm on August 4, 2023 at Barangay Cairohan.
Dr. Ruth S. Miclat-Sonaco, DA-NLP Program Director, and ATI-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry Center Director, Dir. Remelyn R. Recoter, ATI National Director; Mary Ann A. Ramos, ATI-RTC 6 Center Director; and Concepcion C. Carillo, KCARSI FA's President, led the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The following guests also joined the activity, namely: Dr. Darel B. Tabuada, DVM, Iloilo Provincial Veterinarian, also representing Iloilo's Governor, Hon. Arthur R. Defensor, Jr.; SB Member for Agriculture Hon. Lucia Pendioday; Cairohan's Punong Barangay Hon. Shiela Ilisan; and Edward Lebin, Executive Assistant of the Mayor, representing Bingawan's Mayor Hon. Mark P. Palabrica, MDM.
The newly inaugurated building includes facilities required for a multiplier-techno demo farm, such as a climate-controlled (tunnel-ventilated) animal house, waste management facility, biosecurity facility, and marketing area, the establishment of an Artificial Insemination (AI) center, and procurement of breeders and supplies such as feed raw materials, supplements, drugs, and biologics.
"Rain or shine, the celebration will continue," expressed Concepcion C. Carillo in her speech. She welcomed the guests, LGU officials, farmers' association/cooperative/academe presidents and representatives, and other association partners.
Dr. Ruth S. Miclat-Sonaco, in her message of support, conveyed her approval after seeing the established and newly inaugurated 30-Sow Level Swine Multiplier Techno Demo Farm in KCARSI FA. She shared that the techno demo farm will acquire genetically superior breeders to produce hybrid hogs. She continued that within six months, upon commencement of the operation, the farm will become sustainable and be able to start the distribution of hogs as part of the corporate social responsibility of KCARSI FA.
On the other hand, Dir. Remelyn R. Recoter conveyed her appreciation for the presence and continuous support of the association partners. She emphasized that one of the desires of the DA Secretary and President Bong-Bong Marcos is to strengthen the value chain of the different agricultural and livestock commodities. She utters as a challenge to the KCARSI, “Ayuhon ang padalagan sang ini nga proyekto kaibahan ang mga miyembro sang asosasyon. Kung maayo ka man magpadalagan, ang suporta kag ang trust sang gobyerno ara man sa maayo magpadalagan sang proyekto.” [Make this project work together with the members of the association. If you are good in managing the project, the support and trust of the government is also there… for the good of the project.]
Other guests also pledged their support and gratitude to all the project implementers. They said the techno demo farm serves as proof and inspiration for the thriving swine industry in the municipality and the whole province.
The 30-Sow Level Swine Multiplier Techno Demo Farm is a project funded by the DA-National Livestock Program (DA-NLP) under the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for the Recovery and Expansion (I.N.S.P.I.R.E.) Program and implemented through the ATI Region 6 and DA-RFO 6. The I.N.S.P.I.R.E. Program aims to implement a calibrated repopulation and enhancement of the local swine industry to recover the sector's capacity to produce sufficient supplies of hogs and pork locally, considering that the country now faces challenges because of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
