BANGA, Aklan – Various Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Extension Services Program (RCEF-RESP) stakeholders in the Western Visayas present their corresponding accomplishments and plans about the program on February 15-16, 2024 at ATI Training Hall.

Mary Ann A. Ramos, ATI Region 6’s Center Director, highlights the success of the RCEF-RESP through the data lifted from the 2023 DA-PhilRice RCEF Seed and Extension Program Annual Review last February 6, 2024, during her opening message.

RCEF implementing agencies ATI, DA RFO VI, PhilRice, PhilMech, TESDA, and Landbank presented their respective FY 2023 Accomplishments and FY 2024 Targets. The presentations provided updates and new information on the part of the Farm Schools (FS) that are implementing the Farmers’ Field School (FFS). Moreover, they answered the FS’ issues and concerns. This activity also opened a new gateway for the recently approved Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA) to pursue their plans to register as farm schools.

Anthony B. Abong, from Uswag-Durog River Gems Farm Inc., presents the results of their workshop on behalf of the participants from the Province of Antique.

“Our genuine purpose is to serve as role models to farmers and fishers by showcasing applicable technologies. You are transformers in the making. You transform minds and hearts, and you transform lives. So, thank you for your life, service, and presence; without you, we cannot do all of this. You are ATI’s partners for development. Always remember, we are all development partners,” Mr. Ojerio said during his closing remarks.

Princess Dianne B. Calanza, Young Farmer Awardee, Entrepreneur, and Farm Owner of Chandy’s Integrated Farm, shares her good practices in managing her farm and implementing FFS.

At the end of the activity, the RCEF-RESP agencies addressed the participants’ issues and concerns. Furthermore, they clarified information relevant to their topics and functions. Meanwhile, the concerned agencies will consult those unsettled issues during the activity at the national level. Farm owners and representatives were satisfied with the event as it depicts the current situation of their respective farms, especially since this will be the last year of RCEF-RESP implementation.
