Tagbilaran City, March 7, 2025 – The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Central Visayas (ATI-7) recently conducted a three-day training on Gender-Based Health and Wellness from March 5-7, 2025, at the ATI-7 Complex in Cabawan District, Tagbilaran City. The training aimed to promote gender sensitivity among employees while addressing the intersection of gender inequality, health, and wellness in the workplace.

The event, which was designed to raise awareness about the implications of gender discrimination and the importance of overall well-being, saw active participation from ATI-7 staff. The comprehensive training encouraged employees to recognize gender-based challenges while providing practical tools and strategies for fostering a healthier, more inclusive environment.

The training sessions were led by distinguished experts, including:

Ms. Ma. Gracia S. Pungay, Training Specialist III/OIC-TCS I, who led an insightful session on Gender and Development. Ms. Pungay discussed the Magna Carta for Women and emphasized the importance of gender sensitivity and creating a workplace free from gender discrimination.

Mr. Reynaldo Delos Santos, RN, RND, Nutrition Officer I of the City Government of Tagbilaran, focused on nutrition and physical fitness. He highlighted the significance of addressing stress-eating and presented effective micro-workouts that employees could incorporate into their busy daily routines.

Dr. Merrian Piquero Soliva, Information Officer III and Chief of IS, led a session on Digital Wellness, exploring how employees can maintain mental and emotional health in a constantly connected, yet often toxic, digital environment. Dr. Soliva discussed real-life scenarios and strategies for managing online pressures.

Ms. Karina Mae Uy, City Department Head I, Human Resources, City Government of Tagbilaran, presented strategies on stress management and workplace wellness, offering practical advice for maintaining personal health while managing professional responsibilities.

This training was part of ATI-7’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and the overall well-being of its employees. The sessions not only addressed critical issues of gender discrimination but also equipped employees with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to incorporate healthier habits into their daily lives.

“The goal of this training was to equip our staff with the tools to foster a more inclusive and supportive work environment,” said Dr. Gracia F. Arado, Center Director of ATI-7. “By promoting both gender equality and employee wellness, we are creating a workplace where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.”

Ms. Quennie Lou B. Vistal, Administrative Aide VI and Human Resource Designate, is the Project Officer of the said training together with Ms. Riza Claire I. Sebandal, as Support Staff.
