REGIONWIDE. The production of organic vegetable encourages consumer education and knowledge of sustainable farming methods. Customers are better equipped to make decisions based on their values and preferences, thanks to this knowledge.

Instead of using artificial chemicals, organic farming promotes crop resistance to pests and diseases by using natural ways for pest control. This strengthens and sustains the agricultural system more.

In addition, because organic agricultural methods and improved soil quality result in higher nutrient content, organic veggies are frequently higher in nutrients. Produce with a higher nutritional content and possibly better flavor benefits consumers.

In this regard, twenty-three (23) farmers were trained on Technical Briefing on Organic Vegetable Production at Cogon Covered Court, Dumanjug, Cebu on September 27, 2023.

The activity aimed that participants should be able to demonstrate organic vegetable production technique.

“Daghan kaayong salamat sa ATI ug gikan sa LGU ani nga training. Usa ko ka leader nga bag o pa sa pag lead sa amo grupo, tood man nagool ko gamay nga wala mi natapok. Pero nalipay ko nga nakahibalo ko ug unsaon pagpananom, unsaon paghimo ug fertilizer nga menos ra ug gasto (Rhodo) ug unsaon pag amoma ug aron molambo ang among katuyuan. Nanghinaot ko nga kaning training among magamit aron sa pagpalambo sa among association ug magamit sa among tagsa2x nga panginabuhi-an ug sa umaabot pa nga mga trainings nga ipahigayon sa (ATI),” said Maricel I. Manoy a farmer leader from Cogonian Sustainable Livelihood Association of Dumanjug, Cebu.

The cultivation of organic vegetables serves as a model for implementing environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices. This impact can encourage the wider adoption of sustainable methods, even outside of organic farms.
