ALMERIA, Biliran. –The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 8, in coordination with the Local Government of Almeria, Biliran, conducted a training for farmers in the municipality. The training is intended to capacitate the participants on the good animal husbandry practices and its ascode and legal basis.
With the active support of LGU-Almeria and the Municipal Agriculture Office, they have identified NCRFS and RSBSA farmers of AARCO Association of Barangay Iyusan as participants.
The Municipal Agricultural Agriculturist, Mr. Rowell Capuslanan, served as resource person for the training where participants gained knowledge on the Region 8 Native Cattle Industry Status, Good Animal Husbandry Practices, Promotion of safe and healthy working conditions for the farm operators, and Animal workers’ welfare.
The second day of training focused on the Elements of GAHP, such as Site location and building construction, Assessment of hazards for animals and workers, Proper storage of feed materials, Animal identification for traceability, Proper administration & Storage of veterinary drugs, UMMB Making, Forage establishment, and proper restraining and transport of animals.
On the last day, the training activities prioritized Biosecurity measures, Proper handling of sick, injured disabled animals, Environment management, and Record keeping was discussed by TOT Graduates from MASO- Almeria, Bilaran. Mr. Rowell P. Capuslanan.
Ms. Ma. Lourdes Monacar, shared, "Ang training naghatag og panan-aw sa taas nga panahon – nga ang pagpamuhi sa baka, kung seryosohon ug sundon ang saktong pamaagi, mahimo gyud sustainable nga livelihood ug mahimong source sa income sa umaabot. Nasabtan namo nga pinaagi sa husto nga proseso ug GAHP, mahimo kini nga halapad nga oportunidad para sa negosyo sa umaabot."
A total of 30 farmers completed the Training on GAHP-Anchored Native Cattle Production and Management (Batch 4) on July 29- 31, 2925 in Almeria, Biliran.
