BABATNGON, Leyte - The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed and Extension Program is committed to promote and distribute certified seeds of inbred rice varieties and mobilizing and strengthening local seed production in RCEF covered areas.
The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center 8 (ATI-RTC 8) in partnership with the Bureau of Plant Industry-National Seed Quality Control Services 8 (BPI-NSQCS8) conducted a five-day Training Course on Seed Testing for Seed Analyst on August 12-16, 2024 at Babatngon Experimental Station (BES) Compound, BPI-NSQCS 8, Babatngon, Leyte.
Participants were able to conduct hands-on and practicum in the seed sampling and seed sample preparation, moisture content determination, physical purity test, germination test and seed health test. The participants also prepared results and interpretation of analysis submitted to the station. Experts from the BPI Central Office and BPI-NSQCS 8 served as resource persons during the training.
The training was attended by 17 participants from BPI-NSQCS 8 Babatngon and Catarman Satellite Office.
The BPI-NSQCS vision is actively supported by ATI, which partners in attaining technical capabilities in the field of seed testing to ensure the provision of high-quality seeds and planting materials to the farmers of the region.
