To advance the communication and writing skills of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center staff and to document the best practices and technologies in the LGU level, 41 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) were trained on Documentation and Packaging of Best Practices.

Generally, this training aims to educate participants on documentation and packaging of FITS Center’s best practices and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) development. Specifically, at the end of this training, the participants should be able to explain the principles of basic writing; discuss the indicators of a success and feature story material particularly in relation to the agriculture and fisheries sector; understand the principles of effective success and feature story writing and packaging; learn the principles and elements of design; and develop IEC material.

 

The highlight of the training is the production of FITS Centers and LGUs newsletters and the packaging of at least one IEC material of their chosen commodity.

Selected participants shared their learnings and insights during the closing program. “This training will be helpful in our daily work. We can share and train those individuals who has the passion in making a design and feature article.” said Ms. Jennifer P. Bagonoc from LGU FITS Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay. Also Ms. Rhea Mae L. Fernandez LGU Isabela City, Basilan shared “Deep understanding of the importance of elements and principles of design it can really help, it gives the guidance so that we know the right way to create and share the creativity the we have.”

The two batches of the Training on Documentation and Packaging of Best Practices for LGUs was conducted last September 20-22, 2023 and September 26-28, 2023 at Jackie's Hotel, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, respectively.
